I have completed a solution designed on a Mac. I have sucessfully transitioned it to a PC environment, but I have some problems.

First, the FMP files were copied onto a CD and transfered to the PC hard drive where they appear as generic documents. I can open them by right clicking and using the "Open With" option. This shows the file, and my scripts, relationships, etc. all work as expected. But, when I close the files, they go back to being generic documents (so they cannot be opened by double clicking them.) How can I get these files to become true PC FMP files?

Second, I had to adjust all of my layouts (I expected that). But, although I have them so that the layouts that print a series of letters print perfectly, they do not look like that on the screen (e.g. the signature, which is a scanned TIFF file, is 3/4 of an inch above the signature block on screen; when it prints it is less than 1/10th of an inch above the block.)

I designed this in FMP 6, on a MAC in OS 10.3.9, and am transitioning it to a Windows 2000 environemnt.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

TIA

On the PC, check to be sure the files have the proper extension, sometimes the extension is lost when transferring from Mac to PC.

Macs and PCs handle fonts differently, I've often have to increase the size of fields when converting to PC. IMHO, PC typography is still in the dark ages, FileMaker cannot compensate for all it's quirks.

Well, transferring the files with the .FP5 extension did not help. Next try is with the files copied to a thumb drive.

Tried to carry over a Word file to the same site, and I see what you mean about poor font management - PCs SUCK!
