Today, 24U Software launches a new web site section focused on Tips & Tricks for FileMaker users and solution developers. Learn how to add better user interfaces to your FileMaker solutions quickly and easily.

This year, 24U celebrates its 5th anniversary and the new web page is our second special present to you for our birthday. Starting with four examples for FileMaker 8's new features (presented at DevCon 2005), 24U is going to publish more user interface tips and tricks in the future.

Tooltips

FileMaker Pro 8 Advanced include built-in support for defining tooltips.

There is currently no excuse for not using tooltips in your solutions.

Tab Control

FileMaker Pro 8 introduced a new layout object type called Tab Control.

I is a great space saver, but seems to be under full control of user,

not developer. Our examples give the control back to developers.

- Dynamically calculated tab names

- Go to Tab by script (with dynymically calculated target tab number)

- Unlimited nesting of tab controls to save even more space
