FileMaker's site says that the only non-Roman language supported is Japanese. I wonder if language direction (left-to-right, right-to-left, top-to-bottom) is the major issue affecting support of non-Roman languages.

Consider functions like Left or LeftValues: do they process text from the left or from the language's origin (I say origin)?

Developing for any single language is far easier than developing for multiple languages. Displaying the proper text in menus, etc. is relatively easy, processing data from multiple languages is the hard part...

It would be nice if FileMaker supported all langauges supported by the OS. I'm sure that the differences between how Mac OS and Windows implement languages makes this non-trivial.
