October 12, 200520 yr First off, I'd like to thank everyone for helping with Part I of my adventure into FMP7. I have successfully "cracked" the db and managed to discover the admin account and reset the password. All is good, except for one little issue, described below. a) the db is made up of 5 "sections" each of which is a db file. I'll call them db1, db2, db3, db4, and dbMaster. dbMaster is the big daddy with the majority of the fields and important info. c) inside db1-4 I found the admin account and reset the password. But that account does not exist in dbMaster. (the hack tool I used displays all of the accounts and it's not there) Finally, my question: Why is the admin account not in dbMaster? Is it possible to have a db without an admin account? What is going on here?? Many thanks in advance!
October 12, 200520 yr The [Full Access] Accounts were removed using the Developer Utilities tool. This is consistent with best practices recommendations. Where is the original of the "dbMaster" file? Who owns it? Steven
October 12, 200520 yr Author I have to guess the contractor who created the dbMaster is the original owner and he must have removed the account as you said. Luckily, we still have contact information for him, so I will email him and ask if this is the case. Thanks so much for the help! This forum has been a terrific resource!
October 12, 200520 yr Author Oh, one more question: is there any other way to reinstate the Admin account? (if, say, the developer no longer has the original db)
October 12, 200520 yr Oh, one more question: is there any other way to reinstate the Admin account? (if, say, the developer no longer has the original db) No there is not, to the best of my knowledge. At least I hope there isn't one. That would defeat the entire purpose of the process. Steven
