I just reinstalled OS 10.4 on our server computer that was acting up and now FMP server does not seem to be running in the background. Server Admin app & FMP 7 apps cannot find anything to open from the server.

Any ideas?

Check the Activity Monitor to see if the FileMaker Serrver Helper daemon is running. If it is not, you can't use the SAT Tool to start it. You can start the Helper Daemon in the Terminal or in the local Admin Window of the SAT Tool.

Also double check the root level Library to be sure that FMS is still installed and didn't get somehow removed by your reinstallation of the OS.

Thanks that helped. For reference, the server software had been moved into a folder called Previous System. I moved it back to the main Library and was able to start it up using the SAT Local Admin.

An important point to remember:

Server dameon rests at the root level in the library. A system reinstall creates a new Library.
