Kas Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 The "send mail" function sends messages alright to my ISP email account, but all other recipients result in the following error: "The server response was: 5.7.1 This system is not configured to relay mail from to for dialup." Any help would be really appreciated!
CyborgSam Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 To verify that I've daagnosed this correctly, look closely at the headers of a rejected message and make sure the server erjecting the message is your ISP's mail server. If not, let us know. Make sure the reply address (sender's address) is your email address for the ISP. Your ISP rejects "relaying", which is sending mail using the ISP's mail server with a return address different than the domain name of the ISP. ISPs do this to reduce spam.
Kas Posted October 18, 2005 Author Posted October 18, 2005 Thanks for your suggestions. Your instincts are correct - the problem lay in my server's inability to relay messages from my e-mail client. I solved this problem by switching to another provider.
