Newbies Mr R Posted October 17, 2005 Newbies Posted October 17, 2005 Description: Hello, I am having difficulties creating a db that will allow people to sigh up for different courses. It looks really simple - one field where you put your name and one drop-down menu with the courses. I cannot figure out how I can make a course unavailable after a certain number of people sigh up for it. Do you have any ideas or do you have something ready that I can adapt? Thank you!
T-Square Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Mr. R: To really do this justice, you'll need multiple files--one for people, one for classes, and one for course registrations--with relationships between the files. You set up your class records with a MaxEnroll field which you fill in. Then, when a user tries to enroll in a class, you test to see whether the number of registrations for the selected class exceeds MaxEnroll for that class, and cancel if that is true. A number of people have asked about course-tracking databases, and there must be some out there who've built one who could help you out more. My course-tracking database was built in MS Access...
