Can client run on a server system?

Can FileMaker Pro 8 (client) be installed on the same computer that is running FileMaker Server Advanced? The idea would be the client would interact with the databased hosted by the server.

While FileMaker client can be installed on the server machine, it should not be used to open databases that are actively being hosted by Server.

thanks for the reply. I will have another computer be the client, then, and connect over the network to the server.

You can fool filemaker into believeing that it exists on it's own, by running two or more operatingsystems via VMWare ...read on:

But while it's pretty cheap on it's own, must the cost of the ownership of several operatingsystems be brought into the equation as well.
