4.Pack Posted July 2, 2001 Posted July 2, 2001 Help I have a database for correspondence that gets the company details from one DB, and the Person details from another DB. Using a series of scripts to concantenate the various record id's and pull into the correspondece DB, then break up the record numbers again to use for the relationships this all works fine. The relationships are all defined correctly, yet the relationship that filemaker gets for the person details is totally incorrect!!! to give you an idea, this is the concantenated unique ID no's and they are unique as I checked them: 306200110261512641537IB 64200117521212599582S on the left is the person contact no on the right the company id no thus this splits into 306200110261512641537IB and 64200117521212599582S these are the numbers(fields) that are then used to define the relationship. al ok so far, except that now if I ask filemaker to show me the unique id number for the person using the relationship it gets me this 306200110261512641530IB the last number digit should be 7 ? not 0 it seems as if filemaker is taking the first almost the same number it comes accoss and not the propper number the other relationship seems to work fine however what the hell is going on !!!!!
4.Pack Posted July 2, 2001 Author Posted July 2, 2001 figured it out, filemaker only indexs 20 chars, and the unique numbers are like 23 chars long. bugger
