So, I'd like to make changes at home with my laptop, but our company does not offer remote access, so the changes are not made in real time. Also, while I'm at home, the employees continue to make changes. I can sort by date modified to find changes the next morning, but is there an easy script I can set up to synchronize the two?

The only thing you can do is, don't make the changes from home to avoid rework. We use visual sourcesafe for version control and for development in a multi developer environment.
