KaosMaker Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 So, um...can anyone explain why an indexed field would spontaneously change its indexing language to German? This has happened to me now on several occasions, often to multiple fields at a time (though never to multiple fields from different tables at the same time...at least not yet), and needless to say this is wreaking havoc on my system. Scripted finds and relationships based off of these fields automatically fail if the field is not properly indexed. Most of the afflicted fields are old, and had been indexed properly for quite some time.
Vaughan Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Could be a sign of data corruption. Start rounding up your backup copies (you have backups, right) and start reading up on recovering files. The TechInfo database on the FMI web site is a good place to begin.
KaosMaker Posted November 16, 2005 Author Posted November 16, 2005 Aw jeez...I *JUST* recovered the file that most recently gave me the problem. The latest index language change happened about a day after recovery. Does that mean my file is beyond hope?
T-Square Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 If you can access the data, then your best bet is (probably) to: 1) export all the records into a csv file, 2) recreate the data structure from scratch, and 3) import the data back in David
