purplemaji Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 FileMaker 7 has been a big improvement for us, and it is great to not need to take the databases offline as often as before. One thing I find we still have to take the databases down for, however, is to assign the default value for a global field. Is there a way to assign the default value for a global field in a file that is shared on FMP Server 7 or 8 without taking the file offline for a time? The field in question is a container field, if that makes any difference. Thanks for any help!
CyborgSam Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 No: globals are saved ONLY when the database is closed in either FM Pro or Developer.
Newbies Entrepreneur Posted November 25, 2005 Newbies Posted November 25, 2005 If you find it to be a hassle and are willing to spend less than $30, then 24U have a plug in that stores globals on the hard disk and enables them to be server based. Please check for a demo download, I think it does graphics.
