November 17, 200520 yr FileMaker 7 has been a big improvement for us, and it is great to not need to take the databases offline as often as before. One thing I find we still have to take the databases down for, however, is to assign the default value for a global field. Is there a way to assign the default value for a global field in a file that is shared on FMP Server 7 or 8 without taking the file offline for a time? The field in question is a container field, if that makes any difference. Thanks for any help!
November 19, 200520 yr No: globals are saved ONLY when the database is closed in either FM Pro or Developer.
November 25, 200520 yr Newbies If you find it to be a hassle and are willing to spend less than $30, then 24U have a plug in that stores globals on the hard disk and enables them to be server based. Please check for a demo download, I think it does graphics.
