ChasCH Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Hi Guys, At home... Is it possible to set up "Instant Web Publishing" on a LAN with a DSL connection. I want to serve 1 FM7 db which is on a Mac upstairs and connect to that db on my Mac downstairs. I do not have static IPs. The Macs (both Mac OS X 10.3 +) are connected ethernet via my modem. And as there other ways to do this? Thanks in advance! Chas
Fenton Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Yes, I think it's possible. At least I can do it, with 2 machines that are both connected to the same router. I just manually give my "host" machine its own fixed IP address, such as: 192.168.0.100, then I can access IWP via: http://192.168.0.100:591/fmi/iwp/res/iwp_home.html Which is the IWP home page. I add ":591" because I also have regular web sharing turned on, which uses the default http "80". I also had to specify this in the IWP Preferences, Advanced tab (at the top). I don't really understand it completely, but it works.
Fenton Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Oh yeah, I also added port 591 to the ports in my System Preferences, Network, Firewall tab; if you have that on. And I added it to the router's (D-Link DI-504) Applications pane also. I don't really know whether that's necessary, but, as I said, it works.
ChasCH Posted November 23, 2005 Author Posted November 23, 2005 Thanks So Much!! I'll give it a shot!
