Finding related records -- Really puzzled

Hello,

I was wondering if someone could help me out with something that might be very elementary.

I have a database of teachers each with unique IDs which I regularly delete and repopulate from data on our server.

There are a couple of flags that I place on my end on FMP which I want to store on a related file with the IDs as the matching field.

I pretty sure I've set up the relationship properly because I can click on the checkboxes on the main file and the related checkbox in the related file checks on.

But, when I try to find records with the related checkbox checked "on" on the main file, I get a message telling me that "one or more of the relationships are invalid."

What could this be?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi tv_kid,

Thanks for your offer. Here are the two files.

You might see some garbled text (Japanese) in the interface and script comments, but otherwise I think it's pretty straightforward. Sorry if I'm missing something really basic here!

Current file: Main PT Database

Related file: Statuses

Match field: PT_ID

On the current file, the related fields are shown with red borders on the "Background layout" and "Main list" layouts.

The relationship seems to be working fine. Value changes that I make on the current file are instantly reflected on the related file and vice versa.

However, I am unable to perform a find (even "*" "!" or "=") on the related fields from the current file.

The other relationships for this current file are also behaving the same.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Hiroshi

I've taken a brief look at your files and, while I haven't gone into them in any depth to see what you are trying to do, I noticed that your 'PT_ID' field in the 'Main PT Database' was not indexed. Turning this on ensures that you can perform finds on related fields.

Hope this helps

Hi Matt,

Thanks for your help. It works know.

I'll keep a mental note of this so I don't mess up in the future.

Hope you have a good week.

Hiroshi
