Newbies Matthew Phillips Posted November 30, 2005 Newbies Posted November 30, 2005 I Don't Know Where Else To Turn. I Havent Seen This Yet In The Forums. I am hosting two databases with FMS7 Using the Instant Web Publishing. I Believe It Is Set Up Correctly. However, after logging in to the database, And poking around...to prove that it works. sooner or later someone will contact me that the database is down. http://66.60.141.171:80/fmi/iwp/ WILL NOT LOAD! Even Though it was working minutes earlier!!?!??! BUT! http://66.60.141.171:80/ does load. It loads a little splash page i built to link people into the datbase. To avoid using the IWP homepage. If i restart the computer, or stop Services and start the back up again it all works FINE. For A WHILE. then it stops again. Im Not really sure what is the cause of this sort of behaviour. PLEASE HELP! ~Matthew Phillips
stanley Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 Matthew: http://66.60.141.171:80/fmi/iwp/ loads for me, and redirects me to http://66.60.141.171:80/fmi/iwp/res/iwp_home.html, which is the standard IWP home page. However, the databases don't load from the links, or at least not in any reasonable amount of time. What's your setup exactly? I am viewing on: OSX 10.3.9 Safari 1.3.1 -Stanley
Newbies Matthew Phillips Posted December 1, 2005 Author Newbies Posted December 1, 2005 Stanley, Thats My Point Exactly. The Links Wont Load The DataBases. Likewise if You go to http://66.60.141.171/fmi/iwp/ You Dont get the iwp Homepage. BUT if i restart the computer... OR If I "Stop FileMaker Server" From within the Server Admin Application. and then restart it again. It will work JUST FINE. for a while... My Setup is Filemaker server 7 Advanced Installed on a mac mini Running os 10.4.3 I have none of the filemaker updates installed. Because i never had this problem until i installed the updates. (7v3 and 7v4) I Wiped the computer and reinstalled NEw OS and Clean Filemaker Server. So i am now running 7v1. Still Having The Problem. Hope This Is Helpful. I thought Perhaps the problem is Some Script INSIDE the database that is Locking stuff up. but im not even sure this is possible. i suppose the only way to check that is to run it with only one temporary database in the databses folder for like a week. and see if things lock up. i can provide anyone that wants to help more information. or maybe even a copy of the db... PLEASE. I Build Databases! Not Networks!!!
Zero Tolerence Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 I have problems with FM7SA sometimes also. Databases published to IWP just quit every so often. I have to restart the services to get things to come back up. Not only this, but when that happens, my CWP no longer works also. I wish I could help you. What I've done is I have an event scheduled to restart those services every morning at 2:00 AM.
stanley Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 Matthew: Putting another db up on the server would help as a diagnostic tool. Because the files are visible in the IWP home page, you know that Server is running, and that the files are open. Do they run a script when opening? If so, have you tried disabling that? I'd hate to think that IWP just dies every now and then, as I'm building a solution for a client right now (I'm demonstrating it today, in fact) that relies on IWP. -Stanley
Steven H. Blackwell Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 loads a little splash page i built to link people into the datbase. To avoid using the IWP homepage. If you do not know ***exactly*** how to do this it will fail precisely as you describe. Did you make a link with a CGI and a startsession event? Steven
