Hello all.

I'm trying to create a table view of a flat Filemaker DB that includes all 89 fields in my DB. I go through the "Create New Layout" steps and select "Move all fields" but when I view the table, it cuts off the last few fields (stops at about 80). According to Filemaker, the column limit for a table view is 4000+.

There is no logical reason for the fields to be left out. They're all simple text fields. There are a few that have repeating values, but they show up fine.

I'm using FMPro 8 and tried fixing this in 7 on both Mac and PC, but nothing seems to work. The view keeps dropping fields.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much,

John

I have an update for anyone who has experienced this problem.

The problem is a includes confusing specs on Filemaker's site and a width limitation to the Table Layout view.

The confusing part is that their spec (see Answer ID: 5400) for FMPro 8 states: Number of fields/columns per record: 256 million total fields over life time of file.

At the same time, they state:

Number of columns across the page: Up to 99 columns.

The default field width in Filemaker in Table View is 120 pixels. When you create a table view with 99 fields, only 66 will display. Thus, the table view cuts off at 7,920 pixels wide. It woulds seem that the limit is somewhere between 7,920 and 8,040.

I was able to display 100 columns despite Filemaker's claim of a limit of 99. I set 99 of them to 80 pixels long, but 1 of them stopped resizing at 79 pixels. Thus the pixel width limitation in Filemaker is 7,999 pixels for Table View.

For those who have encountered this problem, I hope this helps. I have notified Filemaker of this limitation and hope that they might address it in future revisions.

Cheers,

John Connell
