Plug-In Installation Translation (xmCHART 3.0)

Featured Replies

I downloaded the trial version of xmChart, which is a FANTASTIC way to create graphs in FM. We are really happy with it!

So we bought a licensed version of the plug-in which came with instructions that, for newbies like us, were not very easy to understand. I am wondering if there is someone on the Forum that can help us understand the directions to help us register for the full version of xmChart.

Here is what the instructions say:

"xmCHART is activated with the external funtion:

xmCH_Activate (username;activationCode;numOfUsers)

Since neither the user name nor the activation code is saved in the Preferences file or Registry entry, it is recommended to perform the activation of xmChart in a Filemaker Pro start-up script..."

Does anyone know what this means? What are we supposed to do? Any help is much appreciated!

Create a script that performs a Set Field[] to a global field:

Set Field [ gError ; xmCH_Activate (username;activationCode;numOfUsers) ]

If there's an error, it will show up in this gError field.

To have this as a startup script, go into File->File Options and select it in the "when opening this file:" section, under the "Perform script" option.
