keychange Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 (edited) i have just purchased an MSI M610 laptop and connected that to my desktop (both XP Home) using WLAN 802.11 B/G The network works fine both file sharing and internet access. However I have installed FMP 5 and 6 and they both load up fine but as soon as I try open a new local file or a passworded hosted file the system asks for my password then I get the squiggle cursor then I get an Application Error faulting mode fmcor10.dll - every time. Strangely I can open a non passworded remote hosted file OK Edited December 20, 2005 by Guest update with more info
Vaughan Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Make sure they are both patched to the latest version (eg, 6.0v4) At a guess I'd say it's a built-in OS-level firewall problem. FMP cannot open the required port to the server.
keychange Posted December 20, 2005 Author Posted December 20, 2005 Update done but it's not (I think) a networking issue because it does it with no firewall running- with no network protocol set and when trying to create a new local file.
keychange Posted December 20, 2005 Author Posted December 20, 2005 STOP WORRYING! I found it - a nice little monster supplied with the laptop called 'keyhook' it's supposed to be for SiS Compatible SuperVGA Keyboard Daemon - switch it off and all's well - Bill Gates I hate you !
