Newbies FileKat Posted January 8, 2006 Newbies Posted January 8, 2006 I would appreciate any help anyone can come up with. I have a client with a multi-file solution that used to work. Recently (now using FMP 8) he cannot delete records. I have tried to figure it out but am having no luck. It is not something wrong with his copy of FMP8 as I tried it on my FMP8 Advanced as well and I'm using a clone of his with just a couple of new records. Regular dialog box comes up asking if you really want to delete - say okay and dialog goes away but the record remains. Can't find anything in any privilege set that would deny access to deleting. Have gone in with full access. If you duplicate a record but do not click out, the delete button will work. But once the record is comitted, it will not delete using the keyboard or the mouse. Any ideas out there?:? Thanks
flapjacks Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Look very carefully at the privlege's. It sounds like that's the issue. There are a bunch of places to deny the ability to delete records. John
flapjacks Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Another thought is the privleges of the files. Don't know Mac but windows can be tricky about these things when copied to a cd. I have found this to be an issue before. John
Newbies FileKat Posted January 8, 2006 Author Newbies Posted January 8, 2006 Thank you for your time and assistance. I had tried all that but then I looked into relationships and I think my problem was an incorrect relationshipship that had to do with deleting records from one side of the relationship if records on the other side were deleted. When I got rid of that relationship, everything was fine. Not sure I know exactly why but it now works so I'm happy. Thanks again.
flapjacks Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 FileKat That was my next guess. I use that heavly for the relationship between Invoices and Invoice_Line_Items. It allows creation of and deletion of the line items when creating or deleting an invoice. Glad you got it worked out. John
