Newbies rshepherd Posted January 10, 2006 Newbies Posted January 10, 2006 Has anybody migrated from PrintSmith to FileMaker? I am wondering if FileMaker has all the estimating features and user-friendliness that PrintSmith does. Also interested in tracking & job ticket abilities. Thanks, Rachel
Søren Dyhr Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 You're comparing clothes hanging in a shop for sale with the raw fabrics and yarns in taylors workshop. Ideally should both produce/convey something for the end-user/customer to wear. Printsmith seems to subscripe to an "one-size-fits-all" approach when Filemaker does "Taylored" provided you're willing to handle the tools in the workshop yourself. Actually could could it be so that Printsmith is build by filemaker components to some extend! Somewhere in between these approaches are the dedicated taylors, who might know the tricks of the trade and professionally provide you with a solution fitting your needs exactly ...including some measures to prevent you grow out of your solution immediately! The good question is if you should insist on your solution being produced entirely by "yarns" and "fabrics" included in the Fmpro package? It could be a safeguard against the taylor personally leaving the trade, so you or others easily can get the needed skills to change the solution, provided he keeps it open with special passwords availiable to you? --sd
