Problem in importing .xls to filemaker pro

Hi,

I would like to import my .xls file to filemaker pro v5. I followed the instructions as shown on the web, but nothing came out.

Hence, I download the Filemaker pro 8.0 trial version. I tried opening the file in it. However, it popped up with this error message: "This action cannot be performed because the required table is missing".

What is the required table? How can I resolve this? Can anyone kindly guide me what to do?

..im guessing it might be the lack of any tables with fields in your database, though i was under the impression filemaker would generate one if automatically in their absense... try adding the corresponding fields to the table and importing again... if that doesnt work... its likely to be your .xls file seeing as it hasnt worked in either 5 or 8... if not that, try re-installing... something... :)

Strange. It should work in FMP 5 & 8.

just file, open

choose file of type "excel" .xls, and follow the prompts.

FileMaker will create any fields it finds in the excel sheet, and save in FileMaker format
