In FM7 printsetup will not select printer. Has this been fixed in FM8? We print labels and this is a serious issue with us.

In short, sort of.

I have had trouble in FM8. It seems that FM8 has trouble with printers with long names, also the no dialogue option in printer setup does not work very well either.

It does allow you to set the printer and setup options if you use short printer names, and allow the dialogue box to come up for the printer setup, users just have to click OK.
