If you could not tell, we have gotten in the spirit of Valentine's Day. What do you think, does the color suit us? Hey, even a Pug needs love you know!

If this is your first newsletter I welcome you. These newsletters are designed to give you a quick overview of the goings on at FMPug and maybe sway some of you off the fence of 'should I/shouldn't I' join FMPug. If you are a fence sitter come on down. It really is good on this side and I promise I will not bite!

UPDATE YOUR BUSINESS CARDS

FileMaker Inc announced the availability of FileMaker 8 certification at the end of January. In anticipation of many of our members becoming certified we have added the option to the business cards. I am glad we did as we already have one member listed with FileMaker 8 certification.

Mark Richman of the St. Louis Chapter and Owner & Founder of Skeleton Key was our reviewer that we sent to San Jose last week to review the Professional Training Series offered by Database Pros. He took the test on Monday and passed, so congrats to you Mark.

What are you waiting for? Go take the certification test and get your very own '8'. We look forward to seeing more 8's soon.

please note this is not the official FileMaker 8 certification logo. We tried to find it on their web site but could not, so we made one up. As soon as it comes back on the FileMaker Inc site we will get a copy.

That's right, FMPug is back in the apparel line. This time with a simple line of Black T's. We have coined some of our favorite lines for the über geek in all of you.

From a simple T featuring the new FMPug tag-line to 'I do recursion. Do you?' we think there is a 'T' for all flavors, including the über über geek fmpug.com barcode 'T'.

WHAT'S NEW AT FMPUG.COM

Well, we are busy as usual here at Pug HeadQuarters. There is always something to update on the site and we are constantly trying to add new features.

First let me welcome our newest chapter Chicago. The coordinator is Jeffrey Cannon and we are excited to see the group grow. If you are in the area of Chicago, drop Jeffrey a line.

What's New feature

You may have noticed on the FMPug homepage a Quicktime movie entitled "What's New for January". If not, that is ok, we forgive you! This was a new feature of the Orlando meeting in January and is our way of letting you know what is going on in the FileMaker world.

The January movie featured;

The FileMaker 8 completed product line-up, new updates for FileMaker Pro, FileMaker 8 certification and training, new products in the marketplace including Inspector by FMNexus, FMColor Pro and The Ultimate Guide to FileMaker & PHP by FMWebschool.

We are working on what is new for February, so watch the FMPug homepage for this new movie in the next couple of weeks. We have made this available as a Quicktime movie so as to keep all the transitions and effects from the slides. It makes good viewing on your own or at your local group. We found that in Orlando it was a great conversation and topic starter.

Special Offers & Discounts

We added several new Special Offers and Discounts to the member area, including $10 off the FMWebschool Ultimate Guide to FileMaker & PHP. FMWebschool were on a roll though as they also reserved 5 spaces at their DevCon class in August 2006 for FMPug members while offering $150 off the cost of the course. The class is limited to 15 people, so if you are thinking of getting into PHP with FileMaker we highly recommend this course.

As always we are always looking for members to review products for the benefit of the entire community. Your review could help sway a persons decision on whether they should get that product.
