Is it possible to save a copy as in FM Server 7? I am hosting a file from a FM 7 server , but cannot save a copy as remotely from a client machine. The "save a copy as..." option is grayed out in the file menu. I am trying to find some preference that wasn't set properly, but there doesn't seem to be any. If I recall correctly, I thought the "save as a copy" option was possible in FM server 5.5.

The use of the "Save a Copy As..." menu item has never been possible when you are connected to a file as a Guest. In this case, you are a guest of FileMaker Server 7.

You must be the Host of a file for this to be available.

If you're looking for a method to create a snapshot or archive of your files, use Server's scheduled backup capability.
