strange delay after intial opening

I've got an 8 file program at has a funny initial delay of about 5 seconds when I choose a layout that has another files info referenced on it. (I think that is the problem.)

All of the files are open and maximized when this occurs. The delay only occurs one time--then everything zips along nicely.

What is going on? I can't seems to find a solution and the delay is very annoying everytime the program is started. Please help. Filmaker 6.0 Windows XP

... what scripts hav you got running on opening if any?
