I am modifying a to do list template to become a call log sheet. It is coming along nicely but there are a few things that I need help with.

1- How do I define what field the cursor appears in when a new record is created? It goes to the 2nd field which is the phone number and I'd like it to go to the name field instead.

2- How do I get the auto complete function to work on fields that are for numbers (telephone numbers) Do i simply set it to be text instead with the auto complete box checked?

3- I created a sort button to sort the records with newest at the top- is there a way to automatically sort the records so the newest are at the top of the list?

4- I'd like to create a way to be able to print and have each day begin on a new page.

5- I'd like to be able to create a button which could insert a page break or colored bar or both so visually it would be easy tosee different days as you scroll through the call list.

6- Is there a way to control the order and selection of fields when you use the tab key?

Thanks- file attached for reference.

hey there,

1- script the process of record creation to go to field after new record has been made, or play around in the layout --> define tabs

2-even for phone numbers i would define the field as text, because one might want to enter a number like this +86-769-8738790 . then just double click on it and check autofill

3- sure, make two fields (maybe there already) called creation_date and creation_time, which autoenter on record-creation. then you will be able to easily sort with those values.

4- dont quite understand that question...a print out log of happenings for the day? easy: just script the process of finding all with the creation_date of today, then make a print layout which fullfills your needs

5-ummm...in my mind i would probably have one record per call, so you wouldnt type different days and calls into one field. it is one call per record... also, who are these calls from? customers? then make one database called customers, and a database called calls, relate those two and create your call log records via the customer database trough a portal (for example)

6-sure, this falls similar to question 1..go to layout mode and play with the tab order options...it allows you to select the order of fields and buttons/objects

Thanks for the reply.

1- sorted in layout view/layouts/set tab order

2- ok

3- I have the fields already and I made a sort button that does the job- but I want to see if there is a way for the file to auto sort- no biggie though

4- The list is created by a secretary- when she prints the list out for her boss we want each day to begin on a new page- or at least have like a red bar or some sort of divider so you can easily see where one day ends and another begins.

5- The calls are one per record already (see attached file)- the question was if there was a way to insert a visual marker to show where one day ends and another begins.

6- got it

Thanks,

O
