Problem with Checkbox value lists and searching

I have a field with checkboxes and 8 items in the value list. The problem is that when I "uncheck" a value, that value is still "visible" to a search, i.e., a search on that value returns the record, although the value is no longer checked.

I've converted the field back to a standard field, the uncheck values do not appear...

Any ideas would be much appreciated?

Wouldn't you know it...seconds after I post this I solve the problem - which was in the searching request script and not the value lists!
