Hi folks:

I've inherited the training records function for a volunteer rescue squad. The program uses version 5 I guess (file extension is fp5).

I use version 4 at work, but basically I'm an Excel guy (forgiveness requested)- - - This database has over1,000 records - with about 200 members since we've been using this program. We have a myriad of bogus, incomplete, incorectly entered records.

My most pressing questions are about sorting - -

We have a field that's called List On Roster (it's a Y/N checkbox). This field seems to be able to allow the 900+ bogus records to be excluded from the results, but I seem to be unable to learn how to sort on the field.

Any help wd really be appreciated.

Replies to [email protected] or here wd be great.

Thanks

Steve

Vaughn:

Thanks - I'm OK with the sorting part.

What I did not make clear on was that the field I want to sort on is populated by a Yes/No radio (check) button.

When I look at the field in View-List, I see essentially, the graphic of the Yes/No check box, but the program does not seem to sort on that field despite selecting it.

Hope this is more clear.

Thanks

checkbox fields sort exactly the same way as any other field. It just looks a bit different.

Your Yes/No field when sorted ascending sould sort

empty records

no

yes

It's the empty records that are probably spooking you: do any of the records have entries?
