I have a FM Pro 6.0 database on Mac OS 9 and also one on a Windows NT platform. Both have the same problem. Please help.

Have set up master password and user group password (which is a blank) for FMPro 6.0 on Windows NT and on Mac databases (2 different files). Want user group to be able to Browse, Edit and Print all records. That works fine.

Problem is to protect some fields from editing. Used the Access Privileges window to select only the two fields to be read but not changed and this triggers ALL the fields to be read but not changed. When I change those 2 fields back to full access, then all the fields are fully accessible. Why can't I select just the fields I want to protect from editing and leave the rest accessible? Is there something in the formatting or elsewhere that is triggering the all or nothing protection? Can't figure it out. Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm not sure why you'd want to limit your responders to just Vaughan, but I don't think he'd mind if I try to answer this.

It's not clear what you have done to limit access to those fields, but it you look at the attached screenshots, they should help illustrate what you'd need. If you want your "no password" account to have edit access to some fields, but read-only access to others, setup the password to have access to Edit all records (or limit it, if desired,) and set the group's access privileges to the empty circle on those fields that should be read-only, and the filled black circle on those fields that should be read/write.
