Newbies Tlanes Posted March 12, 2006 Newbies Posted March 12, 2006 Hi All, Has anyone migrated off MS Access onto FMPro 7 or 8 ? Is there a simple way, or a tool I should know about ? The dbase isn't that complicated, but it has quite a few records (10k +) in each of 3 tables. Any help would be great. Thanks, Ted
Reed Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 You can import the tables into filemaker with fieldnames intact if you export from access to something like excel or merge files that preserve field names. What you won't be able to do is convert any expressions to calculations, or vba scripts to scriptmaker scripts. They will have to be recreated manually as will all of your relationships between tables and any forms you created in access.
aldipalo Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 I migrated from Approach several months ago. Many thousands of records. I exported each table into excel and then imported into FM. It handled the mapping very well. Suggest you use the same or similar field names it will save you a lot of time mapping your fields. I created my tables and layouts in FM first then imported. Have fun. I tried to go with Access before FM. You should enjoy the transition.
