Newbies FMPTAGS Posted March 16, 2006 Newbies Posted March 16, 2006 Hi Everyone Im using filemaker server 8 and for some reason one of the database's i've created wont open. Its status is now closed, i select 'OPEN' the status then becomes 'CHECKING' for about 5secs and then reverts back to closed again. Any idea's? Thanks
Newbies Jheneise Posted March 16, 2006 Newbies Posted March 16, 2006 Have you checked the files owner and group privilages? Compare them to one that is working and make sure that they are correct.
Newbies FMPTAGS Posted March 16, 2006 Author Newbies Posted March 16, 2006 where on filemaker server 8 do i check owner and group privilages for a server/database,
Ender Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Don't know about permissions problems in windows, but you might check the event.log file in the FileMaker Server application or log folder. It might have an explaination about why the file doesn't open. Could be a corrupted file.
Newbies FMPTAGS Posted March 16, 2006 Author Newbies Posted March 16, 2006 (edited) i recovered the file in pro 8 and it recovered successfully, still cant get server to keep the database file open. Is their anything else i had to do after recovering the file. The fm server and fm pro 8 are on 2 different computers but are networked, this wouldnt be causing any issue would it? I also found the application error in the event viewer Database "xxxxx" could not be opened. Database may be damaged; use the Recover command in FileMaker Pro 8. anything? Ender Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Search the tech info library on filemaker.com for a recent article about the best way to recover files in FM8.
