richardb Posted May 9, 2001 Posted May 9, 2001 Is there a size resitriction to value lists ? I have 2 related files, which when I create a value list from them showing 2 fields, will always (I mean always) cause FileMaker to crash if I try to use the value list in the main file. I am assuming they are too large and File Maker can't handle it. Assuming this is the problem, is there anyway that you can have a user select an item from a list of say 1000 options without using the value lists as they stand. Thanks
Newbies niceguyL Posted May 10, 2001 Newbies Posted May 10, 2001 Are you using Windows or MacOS? If you use Windows, it can be a problem if one field in the value list is a calculated field that is not indexed. Hope this helps. greetings Gernot
Newbies Fer Posted June 27, 2003 Newbies Posted June 27, 2003 I had the same or similar problem. The value list had values from another file. I notice that FM crashed when showing a value from a specific register. The value on the second field shown was supposed to be a short description, but instead the user made a big description with several uncommon chars. I don't remember exactly if the problem was the size or some of the chars, but I made the description smaller and deleted strange chars and the problem was solved.
