ssimons Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Hey all. I was wondering if there was a way to log account passwords. Sarah
Vaughan Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 No. If there was, it would be a HUGE security problem. You can log account usernames though. If you have the files shared through FM Server then turn on the activity logs and they'll be there. Otherwise you'll have to create a system where the startup script of the file creates a new record in a table each time it's opened. Not too hard.
ssimons Posted March 30, 2006 Author Posted March 30, 2006 Thanks Vaughan. I knew it would be a security issue, but I didn't know if it were possible. Our end users are always forgetting their password for one system or another and I wasn't sure if there was a way to log it.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Our end users are always forgetting their password for one system or another That's why FileMaker Server supports External Server Authentication. One account and one password for all assets thru Active Directory or Open Directory. Please see the External Server Authentication Tech Brief at http://www.filemaker.com/support/upgrade/techbriefs.html Steven
