April 28, 200619 yr Out of curiosity, is there a book out there for designing databases that handle financial transactions? I'm nearing the point in my current project where I need to start laying out the ground work for the billing system. I plan on keeping the posted financial records in a separate file from the other data, but I want to make sure I design the system properly so I don't have to revise the structure and logic later to conform to good business practices. A book on designing accounting systems might be a good help, but considering the large number of books out there, I was wondering what sources other FM developers have used in the past. My experience with invoice systems in FM were all kludges put together by non-CPAs. They also all kind of evolved from FM2 systems, and had left a lot to be desired. I'd like to leverage as much of the feature set of FM8 to build something modern enough to survive future upgrades.
