I wonder how it would be possible to send a http POST request to the server and get xml back fitting into apropiate field in FMP.

Do I understand correctly? You want to have it the other way round than was described by the article?

I am trying to figure out how to use filemaker pro as a client application to call xml-rpc function from web application server and update my mySQL server accordingly, instead of keeping another database inside fmp. Is it possible?

I am confused now. what is the CDML<->XML communication for? is it the communication between filemaker pro and filemaker server? It seems that they described fmp as a server. how can it be linked with php's xml-rpc?
