I'm trying to set up Server for the first time. I have a trial version on my Mac Dual G5 Desktop. I also have Filemaker Pro Advanced on my desktop. I have a solution created in FM Pro Advanced that is open.

On my laptop, I have launched FM Pro Advanced and am able to open FMServer_Sample. I do not have the option to open my solution.

In FM Server, the status for my solution is "closed"

When I go to FM Pro Advanced and then to Sharing/Filemaker Network a dialog box opens called "Filemaker Network Settings". Network sharing is turned on.

Do I need to change the status of my solution to "open" in FM Server? If so, how do I do this?

Thanks

Yes, you need to change the status of your file to be open. Connect to FileMaker Server using the FileMaker Server Admin Tool. Connect to your server and click on the Databases icon. Then, select the database that is closed and use the Action menu to open the database.

There also could be other settings you need to configure before it works. There is a video covering the 4 steps you need to perform to host a file on server. Here is the URL:

Thanks, that worked!

In some isntances, apparently not this one, the "closed" status indicates that the file failed its consistency check.

In that instance, stop the FIleMaker Service. Then open the file in FIleMaker Pro and save a compacted copy of it. Then try opening it on the server again.

See the information elsewher on this board dealing with managing damaged files.
