jeffer Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Hello, Is it possible to host .fp7 and .usr files on one Filemaker Server in a way that the database files can communicate (the .fp7 and .USR files) with each other? I am breaking my head about this one as I am not sure how to build and compile it...probably missing a nerf from the left to the right ear;) thanks in advance, Jeffrey
Søren Dyhr Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 First off making a runtime isn't a compilation at all, it's the attachment of a crippled version of filemaker to your file. Only files no runtimes are served from Filemaker Server. Two runtimes can only communicate with another via applescript, builing a CGI ontop of a runtime is a violation of the license. Runtimes are meant to serve as templates of your stuff to someone not having filemaker yet, with the networking stuff removed as well as the ability to save layouts as .pdf's without using OS features or extentions for such. --sd
Steven H. Blackwell Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Yes, it is possble to host the files. You may have to register the extension so Server automatically recognizes them. Once hosted they must be accessed by a full copy of FIleMaker Pro. HTH. Steven
