Sure would be nice to have the ability to create a stand-alone runtime solution in Filemaker Advanced with an exe extension that would run on Windows XP, SP2. Seems it doesn't work now unless the person already has Filemaker installed. Not kewl, not kewl.

Huh? That feature is readily available for users of Advanced. Now if you are talking about having it networkable, that is a different story. FMI won't ever go that route again.
