importing a PDF Filemaker creates

Been trolling the forums and can't find any references to this. I'd like to be able to create a PDF of a found set of records and then place the PDF into a container field in another table. I'm running into I/O latency issues and am struggling with a way to do this transparent to the user. I've tried set field but I get text. Using import file I get the import dialog because the file is not completed writing and FM cannot locate it.

Any suggestions on how to make this happen?

In case anyone is curious I solved the problem using the SMPTit Pro plugin "File Exists" function. I'd love to hear of any non plugin solutions if anyone has any suggestions.
