I hope somebody may be able to offer some suggestions on a weird problem I am having.

I am doing an import of a 5000 row excel spreadsheet into FM8 and are importing based on matching rows based on one key field. The import seems to work fine, but the resulting data in FM shows some weird symbols in the first field of the row on records that aren't supposed to have anything in that field, but these records do match the key field.

Symbols such as #N/A, and random characters seem to appear.

I am doing other imports and they work fine. It only seems to be when I am doing an import that uses the matching function. I have even tried clearing these fields in the spreadsheet prior to import, and changing character sets etc.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

My advice is to first open the Excel file in FMP and let FMP convert it into a database. Then massage the data in the intermediate file to clean it up. When done, import it into the main database.
