About Passwords!!!!!!

Hi every body....

May be this cuestion is common in this Forum but I need an answer, I need create a layout with login and passwords but I don't know some body could help me.

I have my groups and the user with passwords but I don't make a layou and the script.

Any help thanks

I think that you might misunderstand how passwords and groups work. When you have passwords, that's all the user enters to gain access to the file. However, passwords can be linked to groups. Groups can restrict which layouts and fields a user with a particular password has access to. You can also use groups in scripting for further control by using the Status( CurrentGroups ) function. As soon as a user enters a password they are given the privileges of the groups associated with that password.

I tend not to use the built-in password/group scheme of FileMaker. Instead I usually have a Users database and use that the have users log in with an ID and a password.
