Newbies Paul_Scripterman Posted June 22, 2006 Newbies Posted June 22, 2006 HIya guys - I'm new to the forum - been using FM since version 2 and find myself stuck with a problem: I have given one of my users the level of access just below full access, but they claim they cannot edit scripts on the live system. They can open Scriptmaker but not open the scripts. I have granted them unrestricted access to edit scripts under the access privileges. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Your OS X level file permissions may not be correctly set. From the SAT Tool, first close the files, then stop the FMS daemon. Then do a Get Info on the file at the OS level. The fmsadmin group must have read and write privileges. HTH Steven
Newbies Paul_Scripterman Posted June 22, 2006 Author Newbies Posted June 22, 2006 Thanks for the reply, Steven - I set the Owner permissions to fmserver (read and write) do you definitely mean the Groups permissions?
Søren Dyhr Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 The other issue with these permissions is that, if you allow you users to make scripts that can destroy your solution, will there be plenty to dispute about in a court room ...will you then be responsible for the enjuries caused by your solution which isn't yours entirely any more!!! Independant developers should shy away from such practice ...It's not a win win strategy, for sure! Other methods exists if it's a question of saved searches: http://previews.filemakermagazine.com/videos/544/SavedSearches_full.mov --sd
Newbies Paul_Scripterman Posted June 23, 2006 Author Newbies Posted June 23, 2006 I think I have the answer to this - it seems that my system admin users can edit any script except those with applescript steps in them - only full access users (me) can do this on a served system. Thanks for you help guys - tis appreciated!!!
Steven H. Blackwell Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 o you definitely mean the Groups permissions? Yes. Steven
