New to the FileMaker Plug-in Game

Hi, I started working with FileMaker this past Feb for a filemaker shop. I recently stumbled across the fact that it's possible to make filemaker plugins and since I played with C++ whenyounger I figured i'd jump into it and see what pops up in the future. I'm currently using VS 2005 and the 24U Template. I'll admit I had a rough time getting all of my files together and now I'm trying to figure out how to make a basic plugin...even...putting a hardcoded line of text into a field or something. I can't find any real documentation to go off of and I was wondering if any of you guys could kick me in the right direction or throw more documentation at me besides the readme file that came with FM Developer 7 and the 24U Template. Anything pushing me in the right direction would be helpful, thanks.
