Kick users from records

I would like the ability to kick users from records (i.e. commit the record only for a second) during a script (it's a nightly script so they won't be doing anything anyway) - is there any way to do this short of kicking them off the server using idle connection time or things like that? i.e. any script step.

This is one of those rare occations where I would prefere a plugin over a developed way like the concept Jon Rosen presented years back in Advisor.

I'll look into it, cheers Soren, in the mean time though, i wouldn't mind some other suggestions if anyone could think of any.
