gregincolumbus Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 I am scripting an import from fp5 data file. If a user has not converted the file yet, one would expect the error to be 816...no problem....except, when I capture it, the default filemaker message still appears. I have attached a simple example, just try importing a fp5 file and see what happens. What is really strange is that I used a script variable to save the error and it does show up in a dialog after the ignored error capture. Any ideas? I have looked on the boards but have not found much help yet. Thanks! Bug.zip
John Mark Osborne Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 I tried it using 8.0v3 and 7.0v3 and get the same results. Seems like a bug. I would report it at: http://www.filemaker.com/company/problems.html
gregincolumbus Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 Thanks for the response. I will report the bug to FM. Greg
tgilders Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Honestly, I don't think I would consider that a bug. I couldn't find anywhere that suggests FileMaker will automatically attempt to convert a FM file that is not in the 7/8 format during an import. The help file says that you must convert the file first, then import the data. If the conversion step fails for some reason on it's own, that's where I would expect the error code you mention.
tgilders Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Ok. Sorry, I responded too soon and missed exactly what you were talking about. I see it now.
