jin597 Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Not sure if I'm posting in the right board, but wondering if someone can help me out with the following (as I am new to filemaker as of yesterday). I have the following invoice files: invoice2004_01~12.fp5 invoice2005_01~12.fp5 invoice200601.fp5 invoice200602.fp5 invoice200603.fp5 invoice200604.fp5 invoice200605.fp5 invoice.fp5 I need to create a report that looks like the following: http://microtitan.ca/stuff/database_report.txt (txt file here to simplify the viewing) If anyone can give me a crash tutorial on how to do this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
John Mark Osborne Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Start by importing the data from all the files into a single file. Then, use subsummary parts to summarize your data. Here is an old but still applicable article from the filemaker.com web site which will help you along with subsummary reporting. http://filemaker.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/filemaker.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=5022&p_created=1115172906&p_sid=OHBk2Ybi&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=5022&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRz%20%20b3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MzAmcF9wcm9kcz0wJnBfY2F0c%20%20z0mcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0mcF9zZWFyY2hfdHlwZT1hbnN3ZX%20%20JzLnNlYXJjaF9ubCZwX3BhZ2U9MSZwX3NlYXJjaF90ZXh%20%200PWNvdW50IHRvdGFs&p_li=&p_topview=1 I am also curious as to why you separated all the data into separate files. It's a lot easier to perform finds and create reports when the data is all in one file. Why do you archive the data every year?
jin597 Posted July 10, 2006 Author Posted July 10, 2006 Hi John... thanks for the info! I didn't build this database. It is a pre-existing one that got handed to me. I'm guessing that when it was built, they thought it had to be seperated out for accounting purposes. That's my guess anyway. Thanks again for the help!
