Newbies paulrose Posted June 4, 2001 Newbies Posted June 4, 2001 I hope that I'm in the right forum. Is there a limit on the physical size or the number of entries in a "user dictionary" in filemaker 5? I have an extensive database that includes numerous text fields and fields that contain terms such as "ENG07 GH01". There are about 2000 such codes and about 13000 records. I am trying to spell check the document and reach a point where it will not learn new spellings. The user dictionary is about 40k in size and seems to hold about 1000 terms. Is this an inbuilt limit?
dylan Posted June 22, 2001 Posted June 22, 2001 I don't know the answer to your question. What are you trying to do exactly? If you want FMP to *not* learn new spellings, you can tell it to ignore those words (or fields) or just not use the spellcheck at all. You can also define user dictionaries according to the values in a field ... or just open the user dictionary in your favourite text editor (eg BBEdit) and paste in the terms you want to add. Hope that helps.
