# DEVCON 2006 SPECIAL STILL GOING STRONG

The Early Bird might be gone -- but you can still catch some worms, 100 of them to be exact.

That's right. Advisor's early bird discount has taken flight but the $100 FMPug discount is still ripe for the pickin'. All members, old or new, near or far are welcome to take advantage of this discount.

* OFFICIAL FMPUG SHIRT AVAILABLE

We're looking to expose your business at DevCon! (Ok, so it needs to be said we'd only be exposing the kind of business you'd voluntarily advertise.)

FMPug is a membership community and for those members who will be attending DevCon we hope you'll join-in on our mutual support circle by donning an FMPug shirt. The FMPug shirts are designed to advertise your business name and logo on the front, while FMPug is emblazoned on the backend. We've had a great year, full of support from incredible members (such as yourselves), guest speakers, sponsors and we've been able to secure unprecedented perks. It's our goal to show the strength of FMPug in numbers (droves would be good too) at this year's DevCon (especially at the Key Note presentation) by filling the conference center with official Puggers. The greater number of users, developers and companies that learn about FMPug, the stronger our community will be in upcoming months and years. Translation: New speakers, Fantastic topics, Fresh new discounts, offers and review products -- just lots more of the good stuff. Because the truth is, there really is strength in numbers.

So come on, it's support all around -- a support kum ba yah as it were-- minus the campfire and bongo drums.

This year FMPug and all of its "puggers" will be Off the Chain! The official FMPug shirts have hit the streets and are waiting to find a place in your closet! Check them out at Cafe Press. We have broadened the selection this year to include everything from the business casual polo shirt, several tees for women as well as the unexpected doggie tee, mugs, hats etc. We have something for everyone and don't forget to personalize your shirt by sending a 300dpi business name/logo to [email protected].

C'mon join companies like FMForums, FMWebschool, iSolutions, DataBase Pros and more who have already personalized their shirts!

* MEETINGS AT DEVCON - (Official User Group meeting Thursday 17th 10am)

We are very proud to announce that FMPug has agreed to host the User Group meeting at the Developer Conference this year. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday 18th August at 10am.

This meeting is designed for ALL who run or attend user groups, or those who are thinking about beginning their own group. It is important to emphasize this meeting is for everyone who has more than a passing interest in "developuser" groups, bottom line -- the more, the merrier! We have yet to hammer-out all the details and we welcome any/all input at this juncture. So, if you have yet to book your outbound flight, we hope you'll stay an additional day and hang out with us. Who knows what we will have up our sleeves!

If you are planning on attending DevCon, have you checked out the other Pre & Post sessions? Arrive early for some "Scripting Fundamentals" with Doug Gardner followed by a little "Entrepreneurship 101" with Douglas Rawson followed up with "Creating an Invoice Solution" by John Mark Osborne.

# GRAPHIC SPOTLIGHT

FMPug is a union of so many different FileMaker Pro users and developers that we decided to represent this in our new look. Each of the individual silhouettes on our newsletters represents a user/developer from a different background and we plan on showcasing one of them in each issue.

This month: The Shrink-Wrap Developer

Our fourth silhouette represents the shrink wrap developer and we are pleased to welcome John Sindelar as our interviewee this month. John is the Principal/Lead Developer for Seedcode, a division of Cleveland Consulting.

SeedCode develops, markets, and supports CC Calendar, the most popular FileMaker Calendar Template. Formerly the templates division of Cleveland Consulting, SeedCode was spun off to focus on simple, open FileMaker Pro templates, calendars, and small applications. All SeedCode templates are completely unlocked and as simple as possible under the hood, letting you easily bolt sophisticated features on to your existing projects.

SeedCode is a proud sponsor of DevCon 2006.

# WHAT'S NEW AT FMPUG.COM

* JOB LISTINGS

Have a job that needs to be filled? Looking to fill a job? As a response to our Feature Requests, a few members suggested we post FileMaker-based job listings. FMPug has now added a section dedicated specifically for those Job Hunter and Gatherers of us out there! In its first official week, the selection is a bit thin, but we think that'll change in no time! We're making the announcement in hopes more companies will post their employment needs.

Current listings include:

* Developer Relations Technical Liaison (FileMaker Inc)

* San Diego FileMaker Programmer Sr Level in-house (Acrendo Medical)

* Senior FileMaker Developer wanted for in-house development (AlaMark

Technologies)

* BUSINESS DIRECTORY - FULL STEAM AHEAD

**** 44 Certified 8 Developers now listed. Up two since the newsletter was published yesterday ****

Since the change in the business directory last month we have seen an incredible amount of traffic.

* Over 6500 Member card views

* Over 4000 page exits to member web sites

* Most popular searches include:

o FileMaker 8 Certified Developer, Pug Coordinator, FileMaker Pro Hosting, Authorized Trainer, FSA Member.

Improvements since the launch:

You'd think we'd be able to sit back and relax after the improvements last month. But noooo....

Within days of launch we added a "Link Exchange Categories" listing. This shows the various categories where the member site appears from our Friends of the Pug page. By adding this feature we can guarantee a greater chance of someone finding your listing/services. Just think of it as page impressions for your site.

We have also improved the listings for any member who lists training details through our site. Their profile will now show their upcoming training schedule. Click on the link to be taken directly to that company's training schedule in our calendar.

* NEW DISCOUNTS

Lots of new discounts and specials in the members area. Stop by today to find something you absolutely do not need but just gotta have!
