Is there a way to lock down a field after, say, 24 hours, and can this be applied to an entire layout?

Thank you

I can imagine a way you could do it for a whole record...

Create a field that records the creation date/time of the record.

Define a custom privilege at the record level in the users Privilege Set such that the record cannot be edited if the current time is > 24 hours from the record's creation time.

The editing function appears grayed out under Custom Privileges ... any other suggestions?

I am interested in techniques for locking a record after a specified time period such that a user cannot edit/modify it. I previously posted a request to lock down a field, but what I think I need is to lock down a record after a specific time period.

I've used Dan's method. I don't know exactly what you mean by "The editing function appears grayed out under Custom Privileges", because record-level restrictions should be available, under the "Limited" drop-down (then popup). It is a simple sure-fire method.

None of the tables in my solution allow selection of the Edit Menu -- it's grayed out -- although all other menus can be selected (View, Create, Delete, and Field Access).

I wonder if my relationships limit this functionality (could a portal that allows record creation in another table limit my ability to add record level restrictions in my primary table?)
