Newbies jwhitmill Posted July 10, 2006 Newbies Posted July 10, 2006 I have a field which uses a value list drawn from the records in a related table. All the items in the list display perfectly if I format the field as radio buttons or check boxes, but nothing appears if I select drop-down list or pop-up menu. Clearly, the relationship is good and the value list is properly populating - what's wrong with the display?
Søren Dyhr Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 If you're designing with checkboxes will the field be styled accordingly eventhough the count of records in the related file is nil. But I wouldn't rule entirely out that the calc'field you try to build upon, can't be stored due to the use of a related value or a global in the definition. --sd
Newbies jwhitmill Posted July 10, 2006 Author Newbies Posted July 10, 2006 The value list is defined to use values from a field in a related table. I don't see any global markups in the field containing the values. FWIW, I have an almost identical situation in another database - except there, the drop-down works. Confusing. I've gone through the setups to compare them - they seem identical, but (obviously) I'm missing something.
Søren Dyhr Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Can you place the cursor in the field and tell me what the dialog show when command_I 'ing. If it's empty the indexing needs to be turend on the field the list is based on, if the box fills with data - you probably just have to change the text colour to something else than the background.... --sd
Newbies jwhitmill Posted July 10, 2006 Author Newbies Posted July 10, 2006 Not sure what the problem was, but I "solved" it. I just started over from scratch, and this time it worked. Obviously I messed up some step on the first one. At any rate, it's working now. Sorry for all the bother - I probably should have done this first. But thanks for the willingness to help.
